Purpose GIPPSI is the first center for detection and treatment of early psychosis in southern Italy. During the last 2 years a major challenge of its clinical work became early intervention and prevention of psychosis in high risks group of help-seeking patients. For the screening of High-risk patients among the youths with non specific mental simptoms we use ERIraos checklist. Our interventions are theory-based on stress-vulnerability model and on the clinical-staging model of psychosis. Methods and materials Our team includes psychiatrists, psycologists, family therapist, healthcare professional educators. This ensures multidisciplinary approach to garantee broad-spectrum treatment program, which provides and integrates CBT, psychosocial interventions, family work and sometimes pharmacological interventions, usually avoided as a first-line treatment. Intensity and typology of family interventions depends on individual clinical evaluation by clinical team meeting. To improve the quality of our work we have elaborated a semistructered interview for parents /caregivers, useful to collect information and opinions about particular problems of the families and family communication, to understand their parenting skills and, finally, to articulate the intervention. Results Family interventions for our patients and their parents are necessary in order to reduce family-environment stress by improving family communication and rule setting. In order to offer to all families’ different types of support GIPPSI’s family work is articulated in a wide range of interventions: psychotherapy family interventions with the whole family, with single members of family, with couples; training of parenting skills; family psychoeducation; multifamily groups.
